Don Bowerman

Winner of the Oregon State Bar’s Highest Honor 2017 Award of Merit

Before beginning his illustrious legal career, Don was an avid sportsman and  played the position of fullback for the Oregon State University Beavers. In 1959, Don received his Juris Doctorate from Portland State University Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College. Following his graduation, Don was appointed Clackamas County District Attorney, where he served and prosecuted until 1963, when he turned to civil litigation.  Don's practice over the years has been primarily in the defense of medical, legal, and casualty claims. He has also handled varied complex litigation cases involving banking, aviation, construction, antitrust, condemnation and school law. Don regularly served as an assigned pro tem judge in Clackamas County, ruling on the civil motion docket. He also served statewide as a circuit judge pro tem beginning in 1993.

As a former President of the Clackamas County Bar Association, Vice President of the Oregon State Bar, and  member of the Board of Governors and Chairman of the Professional Liability Fund of the Oregon State Bar, Don is very active with the local and state bar organizations.  He is a Fellow in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In his free time, Don is an avid cyclist and tennis player in the summer, and skier in the winter.
